Each and Every Moment

The journey of this selection of songs by Wild Geese began in 2012. The thought of the band producing a fifth album was then not a priority. However, friends of the band, Wayne King and Paulette Durrant, requested, or rather generously ‘commissioned’ a collection of Wild Geese originals and offered to finance the production of whatever resulted from that exercise. The band was delighted with that opportunity, and so the process began. If Wayne and Paulette realized at the time how long this process would actually take, they may not have been quite so keen!

Brendan went off to seclusion at Mark and Marie Hall’s Riversdale batch for five days with guitar and computer in hand, and with the sound of the Pacific Ocean in the background sketched out the frames of seven new songs.

From that early drive of enthusiasm the project slowed down. Seven songs was not an album. The rest of the band, Mike, Neil, Mick and Paul began their own creating and eventually fifteen new songs from the band were ready and waiting.

Rehearsing then ensued. The band rehearsed, the band rested, the band rehearsed, the band rested, and the cycle repeated itself for quite some time. Eventually a couple of recording sessions took place but that process ground to a halt for a multitude of reasons. The band met and finally agreed to go back to trusted past producer Neil Maddever of Sounds Unlimited and the ‘journey’ began to take a bit of shape.

There were long periods of time between recording sessions. Some songs were reworked, others completely re adjusted or re written. It was painfully slow but positive and the band remained friends throughout the process!

Other musicians and singers joined the project: Bridget, Gill, Siobhan and Toby added their pieces of magic and eventually it was mixing time. Mastered at last by Neil Maddever, here it is.
